It’s been a bit of a bumpy last leg to get to this point, but after a few delays, the crafting and exploration sandbox MMORPG world of BitCraft Online has now officially made it to early access. Or beta, depending on whom you talk to.
As mentioned before, the game’s early access will cost 30 dollaridoos but will be free-to-play at launch, while gameplay promises “a true single world MMORPG” where players craft and manage settlements, explore various biomes, terraform as they see fit, and fight off against an assortment of threats. Cooperation and surviving together is the name of the game, while progression is promised to expand “over months and years” – a pace that was suggested when MOP’s Chris took the game for a test drive on OPTV.
According to BitCraft’s Steam page, there is no timeline for the length of early access. Indeed, Clockwork Labs fully admits that it has “large ambitions for the full release and it could take [the studio] several years to get there” and also states it’s in no rush to leave this phase of development until “both us and the community feel that BitCraft will be a great full release.” As for planned additions, those include biome-specific challenges, new enemies and resources, more regions, and added buildable items.
