We’re back and forth and back and forth on BitCraft’s $30 early access: It’s been undelayed and is now launching tomorrow. Readers will recall that the game was originally meant to hit early access May 29th, but Clockwork bumped it to June 20th. Yesterday, the studio told fans that Valve’s slow-roll Steam approval had delayed the game to June 27th. At that point, would-be players apparently lost their cool on the Steam forums (come on, guys), which surely added to Clockwork’s stress as the devs scurried around making personal apologies to angry posters over an early access.
In any case, now Clockwork has undelayed the game, meaning now the latest delay was one day and not a week. “Steam just approved our build and we have run our pre-release checklists,” the devs write. “We have decided to launch BitCraft Online on Saturday June 21st 9AM EDT / 3PM CET (NOT June 27th). This is one day after our originally planned date, but hopefully still enough time for players to plan and prep.” The studio says that because of Valve’s delay, it was left with few options: to launch during the Steam summer sale or to get it out this weekend. It’s chosen the weekend.
MOP’s Chris just streamed BitCraft earlier this month, finding it a “serene and slow-paced sandbox that’s all about gathering and crafting”:
