This past March we reported on the start of legal proceedings in France against former chief creative officer Serge Hascoet, former VP of editorial and creative services Tommy Francois, and former game designer and director Guillaume Patrux, all of whom stand accused of sexual and psychological harassment that was made public back in 2020. The trial is now scheduled to move forward on Monday, June 2nd, and some top execs at the company are being called in to court during the trial.
According to a statement from French trade union Solidaires Informatique, which filed the suit alongside two victims, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and HR director Marie Derain are being summoned to court to testify in the case. While the union made sure to point out that the pair aren’t facing charges directly, it does hold that they are complicit in encouraging behavior that the three accused former execs were allegedly engaged in.
Here’s part of the statement via Google Translate:
“Beyond the personal responsibility of these three executives, this trial will highlight Ubisoft’s responsibility in setting up a system aimed at keeping harassers in place while silencing their victims. […] These are not a few individual actions, but a well-oiled mechanic of self-care, work organization and management that have allowed this violence to continue within the company for years.”
The trial is scheduled between June 2nd and 6th and will be heard in court at Bobigny, Paris, France.
