It’s time for yet another game health update from Sea of Thieves, which means production director Drew Stevens calmly talking about efforts to address bugs, server issues, and cheaters, all while a serene reprise of the game’s main theme floats along and the dev makes politician-like warm hand gestures.
The first order of business is related to an issue with on-demand PvP dives via the hourglass. The devs appear to have tied down the source and promise a patch soon, while Stevens once again promises the team at Rare will do better and also announces a week-long boost and unique cosmetics for hourglass content sometime in June as recompense for taking down the feature to fix the problem.
Next, Stevens declared some provisional victories against cheaters following recent updates, as well as the promise that Rare will be taking a closer look at addressing modified pak files. He does acknowledge here that anti-cheat is always an arms race, but he also promises that efforts will continue in this area.
Finally of note at the end of the video is discussion about upcoming fixes to some of the game’s longest-standing problems. Foci in this area include water desync, extended black screens, merchant supply delivery issues, an exploit for hourglass fights involving shallow water, and Siren’s Song voyage problems.
