In its last infographic on Dune Awakening, Funcom included a stat that seemed so “water is wet” to me that I didn’t even put it in my writeup: the fact that testers had explored only 25% of the area of Hagga Basin. It stood out because only 25% of Hagga Basin was even open to players, as nine of the 12 zones were blocked off. What that means is we haven’t really seen much beyond that – and Funcom is now going to start dribbling it out.
“[D]eveloper and publisher Funcom will host an exclusive livestream on May 28th where developers will both show and talk about what players can expect to see as they reach further into Hagga Basin and beyond, into the Deep Desert,” the company announced today. “We’ll head further into Hagga Basin, showing you what you can expect to see, build, and experience in the midgame. We’ll also cover advanced gameplay mechanics such as The Landsraad, and we’ll dive deep into the Deep Desert to show you how Dune: Awakening’s endgame game offers plenty to do whether you prefer PvE or PvP.”
In other words, you’re about to find out whether you’ve been Tortaged. (For our younger MMO players, that’s a reference to Funcom’s MMO Age of Conan, which players bought on the strength of its level 1-20 preview zone, Tortage, only to find out the rest of the game at launch wasn’t quite as strong as Tortage.)
The preview airs May 29th at noon EDT.
