Fallen Earth’s been offline over two months now, but Little Orbit isn’t giving up on its return

So here’s an out-of-nowhere thought for the day: Did Fallen Earth ever come back online since its abrupt closure in early February? And it turns out that no, no it hasn’t… but it might at some point in the near future.

Since it’s been a while, here’s a brief recap: In February, Little Orbit (which handles Fallen Earth and APB Reloaded) saw its data center suddenly close, taking the game servers with it. The studio then scrambled to set up new servers to handle its MMOs personally, but was only able to restore APB back in early March.

As for Fallen Earth, it’s become a much longer wait for fans to return to their post-apocalyptic stomping grounds. As of the writing of this post, it’s now been two-and-a-half months when this MMO has been offline with no announced date of its return.

So what’s happening with this? Back on March 24th, Little Orbit CEO Matt Scott posted the studio’s priorities for the next few months, putting Fallen Earth as its third-highest task: “Fallen Earth Live is #3 – We started work to support the code changes, but [APB Reloaded’s] CDMM + Anti Cheat became an ‘all hands on deck,’ so that got paused. I know you guys are waiting on this […] As for the next 3 months, I think we’ll get through everything APB, STFU, and Fallen Earth above.”

Previously on March 22nd, Scott said, “For you guys, we have been working out all the kinks in APB to help stabilize the network. I want to make sure things are running smoothly before we put FE back online. Sorry for the delay.”

Just yesterday, in response to players asking when they can play, the community manager replied, “Hopefully soon, no news for the moment.” On we wait.
